Welcome to Matrimony Monday Ladies! We have a beautiful bride for you today! Jalee Jo and her husband Riley were married December 30, 2011 in the LDS Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Jalee and Riley met the first day of spring semester in their organic chemistry class at SUU. Jaylee says they learned about two kinds of chemistry that semester! :) Riley, beautiful and smart!? You're one lucky guy! Riley made Jalee dinner after a study date, and then serenaded her with John Mayer's "Why Georgia". And the rest, as they say, is history!

After some coaxing on Jalee's part, Riley finally kissed her! She blatantly refused to leave his apartment until he kissed her. We can't blame Riley for being nervous though, Jalee is gorgeous!

Riley and Jalee continued to date until one day he took her to the park and played her a song that he had written just for her. The song was about every memory they had together in the past seven months. When the song was over he got the ring out of his guitar case, knelt down and asked her to marry him.

We all know her answer, or we wouldn't be here :) And this is when Jalee came into our lives at The Perfect Dress! Jalee was a dream to work with! She lit up the whole store with her bright smile and bubbly personality. When she finally put on "the dress" Everyone on the store knew it was the one for her! She was absolutely radiant!

Jalee absolutely loved the the dress, there was just one problem, it was strapless. But, lucky for her we have miracle workers for seamstresses. These fabulous ladies are a big part of what makes The Perfect Dress a five-star place to shop. Their pricing is fair, (usually 1/2 to 1/3 what others charge). But most importantly, their work is beautiful. Your wedding dress is the one dress you want to be absolutely perfect, and the seamstresses here at The Perfect Dress are rivaled by none.

Jalee and her seamstress, Lydia, came up with a beautiful design for a jacket with the perfect sleeve to compliment Jalee's gorgeous gown!

Long Distance Love

She would walk five-thousand miles and he would walk five-thousand more.

After two months of emailing, Ariel and Evan were finally going to meet. Their sisters knew each other and had designs on the two becoming a couple, so with much anticipation, Evan made his first of what was to be many flights to Utah to finally meet his beautiful bride. Twenty minutes into their fist date Evan could resist no longer, and kissed Ariel for the first time. Evan and Ariel were falling hard, and not just 'cause their second date was sky-diving!
Ariel and Evan spent the next few months flying back and forth while their love spanned the miles between them. Evan flew out for Ariel's birthday, and had the entire day planned with activities for the two of them. By the end of the night, notes from the activities spelled out, "Ariel, Will You Marry Me", and as you can see, Ariel said, YES!
That is when Ariel happened into our little corner of the world, and we're so glad she did! Ariel came into The Perfect Dress looking for something vintage, but was very worried that she wouldn't find anything that she was looking for. In Ariel's words, "Picking out my dress was one of the best parts. The Perfect Dress had a huge selection and they were all amazing! I wasn't surprised that the dress I bought was the third dress I tried on."

Ariel was in love for a second time, only this time with her dress. She let us know that the dress "brought everything I had imagined together; from the flowers to the food and the colors." We asked Ariel how she felt on her wedding day, and were happy to report that, "I felt like every bride should: Stunning! I still get people complimenting me on my dress all of the time. I have people I don't know emailing me and asking me where I got my dress, and I even had a lady ask if she could buy it from me on my wedding day after I was done using it!"

"My seamstress is amazing. I had her do all of my alterations throughout high school and they always turned out perfect so I knew I could trust her with my wedding dress. She is super nice and does exactly what you want."

Ariel and Even were married August 5, 2011, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

So now for Ariel's advice! We asked Ariel what she would tell other brides on the hunt for their "Perfect Dress".
Ariel says, "Stick with what you imagine in your head. Don't let yourself get persuaded into something you didn't envision, unless you are completely 100% sold on it. Also, try on a few things that you love on the hanger, and others that you don't particularly like, because you'd be surprised how different they look on.

Don't fall for that "Great internet deal"

When planning a wedding the budget can sometimes be the most difficult part. Brides are always trying to make sure they stay within their budget boundaries while still finding the perfect dress. Because of this, a lot of brides turn to online deals to ease their pocket books. After receiving too many phone calls and E-mails about ruined wedding dress stories, The Perfect Dress is here to tell you why the online deal is too good to be true. Even our designers are trying to spread the word. Maggie Sottero includes this link to help brides find the dress they love.

Candace came to us after exhausting her funds on purchasing a wedding gown at a previous store and online. Her friends came together to help her find the right dress with a new budget and a new hope of getting the dress of her dreams. This is her story:

"My search for the Wedding Dress of my Dreams began even before I became engaged. I went to my first shop and felt a lot of pressure to put a down payment on a dress I liked Ok. I realized quickly that you shouldn’t just like your dress just “Ok” so I got out of the contract, but not without losing $180. I felt slightly panicked and a girl suggested looking online for a wedding dress from the designers I loved.

I went to an online store called “www.Peridress.com” and the dresses were exquisite – not to mention super cheap! No dress I could see was over $500 and I was in awe that the pictures were still the Designer’s pictures. The dresses were ‘copied’ after the designer dresses, and they ‘guaranteed’ it to arrive in a timely manner as well as perfectly sewn to order.

I ordered a dress I had found in another bridal shop by my favorite designer – Justin Alexander – and it cost me only $300! (Rushed shipping and all!) I should have known that it sounded too good to be true… The packaged dress came in a UPS vacuum-sealed bag. I was a bit worried about the wrinkles, but my worry turned to despair and anxiety when I saw what came out of the bag.

Sequin were sewn ALL OVER MY DRESS & were in place of the diamonds & beading. SEQUINS. Nowhere on the website did it mention such substitutions! It claimed to be almost EXACT to the designer’s dress. Also, the stitching was in plain view – and the string was Ivory while my dress was stark white. The material was a very cheap taffeta and I had ordered “natural silk”.

I was in awe of my own stupidity. I had been royally ripped off. I quickly emailed the company (which was only reachable by phone during 1am to 7am since they were in China). They responded back with a nasty email replying they had sent me exactly what I had ordered, and if that wasn’t the case – I had to “Prove It” by taking a picture of it and sending it to them and THEN they would decide if I could send it back for a refund (less the $55 shipping of course). It was a nightmare and I was heart-broken. Not only was I sure they wouldn’t care to refund my dress, but I knew I didn’t have enough time to send it in and get another dress back. (I was 2 ½ months away from my wedding date at this point)

Naturally, I cried to my friends about the issue. They banded together and approached several bridal shops with my disastrous story in hopes of help and a solution with such short notice. The Perfect Dress saved the day by helping me find my dream dress and making it affordable for my friends to purchase as a gift to me!! The Perfect Dress was patient with me and worked hard to get me the dress I wanted in the time I needed! Couldn’t ask for more wonderful service!!

May this be a warning to all present & future Brides: IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE – Trust me, IT IS!! Online ordering is never the way to go! (unless the Bridal shop does it for you)"

1. Tell us a little bit about working with your seamstress and adding sleeves.

She did an amazing job and did exactly what I wanted.

2. Tell us about your experience picking the dress.

Picking the dress was like I had always imagined it would be like!

3. How did your dress influence the rest of your wedding plans?

My dress influenced what I did with my hair, the coloring of the men's suites, and also the kind of flowers I picked.

4. What was Trevor's reaction to your dress?

When Trevor first saw me in my dress he said, "Oh my goodness you look SO beautiful and your dress is perfect! I love it!" He then continued to tell me a million times throughout the day how beautiful I was and how much he loved my dress. (He is pretty opinionated with style and he even wanted to help me pick out my dress, but I told him no---so he said that I couldn't have picked a more perfect dress haha)

5.What was your favorite part of the day?

Well it's hard to pick out my favorite part of the day, because I just loved the whole day-it was perfect. I would have to say Trevor's reaction to seeing me would probably have to be it.

6. If you could give any advice to a bride looking for her perfect dress what would you tell her?

Try on things you wouldn't normally think to try on. That doesn't mean you have to try on everything in the store. Pick out ones you love from the rack, but then also pick out ones you think you might like, because you never know how it will look on. And plus, sometimes the styles you might not necessarily pick out first for yourself, just might be what looks the best on you or makes you look amazing!
